Oops, forgot to post yesterday. Well, here's my belated list of the best things about Bristol.

7) The Accent
Truth be told, at times I could see myself putting this on the "things that annoy me about Bristol" list. Still, a whole city of people that talks like pirates never gets too old.
6) Clifton Suspension Bridge
Not so great for you acrophobes out there, but if you enjoy dangling over a sheer canyon on a bridge designed by the greatest of the great Victorian engineers, this one's definitely for you.
5) Wills Memorial Building
The one building you can see from pretty much any point in town is the University's showcase tower (and the building in which our department is housed, coincidentally). There's something nice about a city in which a school is the most visible structure.
4) Old Town
The St. Nicholas Market never gets boring, you can have a drink in the pub from Treasure Island, and according to the Blue Guide, Queen Square has the best equestrian statue in Britain.
3) St. Mary Recliffe
The nicest "small" church in the country, for my money. It's what a Gothic building should look like.
2) The Harbour
One of the very best things about Bristol is how it's so closely tied to all things maritime, a history which is still very palpable along the Floating Harbour.
1) Clifton
Particularly the view from in front of Royal York Crescent. Georgian buildings, tree-filled parks, and rolling, green hills and pastureland on the horizon. It couldn't possibly get more English.
